The 17 Sustainable Development Goals
What is sustainability?
These are the 17 SDGs. Can you guess what they are?
Below you will find the names of the 17 SDGs. Can you match them to the icons?
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015.
At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.
Do you agree with this agenda? Is there a goal that should not have been included in the 17 SDGs? Is there a goal that is missing?
If you could add one more goal, what would it be?
Can you put the 17 SDGs into 3 groups? Share your ideas and then look at a possible grouping on the 3rd slide below.
Which of the 17 SDGs might MusicLexis be related to, and why?
To be able to provide an answer, you can read the description of MusicLexis on the main pages of the 3 wikis - MusicLexis dictionaries, Grammar wiki, Practice wiki, and listen to Areti Sidiropoulou, the creator of MusicLexis, explain the main goals of MusicLexis in the video below.
In an experiment she did, Areti first tried to answer the above question herself. Without much thinking, she was able to come up with 2-3 SDGs that MusicLexis could connect to. Then, she briefly described what the website is about and its goals to an AI search engine and asked the engine the same question. The AI engine came up with 4 SDGs (!) and justified its answer clearly and precisely. Still, one SDG goal was missing. Read through the pages below and see whether you can find it.
In the case above, what strengths and limitations did AI show compared to the human brain?
Does AI reduce the role of the human brain or does it make it more important? Why?
In what way should we approach the answers provided by AI systems?
